Born in Mexico City in 1969, Arlette began her photographic education at the age of 18 at the Japan Cultural Center, using an analog SLR camera. In 2007, she started using a digital camera, and since then, she has been a student of renowned Mexican masters through workshops, courses, and diplomas. While she masters different genres, her work leans towards documentary photography, where she has found both professional and personal fulfillment through various projects.
She began exhibiting in 2014 with the “Ser Mujer” collective at the Héctor García Gallery, and later with other collectives. She won first place in 2017 and third place in 2019 in the professional category of the national contest “México en una Imagen.” The exhibition of this contest travels to several museums across Mexico. In 2020, she was selected as part of the “Utopías Femeninas” collective at the prestigious and international Patricia Conde Gallery. She is one of the 25 artists selected for the 2023 XX Photography Biennial, from over 500 photographers and visual artists in the country. At the end of the exhibition, she was awarded the “Audience Award.”
This year, her work will participate in the PHotoESPAÑA 2024 Discoveries program.
